SAP Named Top Global ERP Leader
German software giant SAP has been named the global 2006/7 market share leader for the combined categories of enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain management (SCM) and customer relationship management (CRM) software by analyst firm Gartner. The three SAP business systems of SAP ERP, SAP SCM and SAP CRM are all part of the SAP Business Suite.
The Gartner report on worldwide Enterprise Resource Planning software market share references software revenues as the basis to estimate that SAP leads the ERP software market with a total global market share of 27%. This measure surpasses direct competitor Oracle by 13.8% of global ERP market share. SAP is also named a leader in several ERP software categories, including financials and human capital management systems.

The Gartner research report shows that SAP is the SCM market share leader, as measured by total SCM software revenues, and has achieved a total market share of 19.7%, surpassing Oracle which stands at 14.9% market share.
While somewhat contradictory with other analyst reports, the Gartner report measures CRM software revenues to show SAP leading the Customer Relationship Management software market with a total market share of 25.7%, placing it 10 percentage points above competitor Oracle.
